JOEY RAMONE BIRTHDAY BASH 2014:
Because of Diane Gentile (read page one) I had no chance to take photos as
well I would had wanted, even I had a photo pass. I was so pissed
off that I did miss because of her
artists like The Gobshites, The Independents and Andy Shernoff.
Btw, here is a long story from 2011, when I and Anu Vihma traveled to Dublin,
Ireland, because
Richie Ramone recorded an album with The Gobshites. It is not published
yet (situation in June, 2014).
Mickey Leigh sang many songs. First was Waiting For That Railroad and
also on stage were then Cheetah Chrome, Walt Stack, Pat Carpenter and
David
Merrill. One song we of course heard was What A Wonderful World and on
it
was on stage Glen Matlock. I was really happy that Mickey had chosen to
set She Belongs
To Me from Ramones' album Animal Boy. She Belongs To Me is written by
Dee Dee Ramone and Jean Beauvoir and song is in a listing of my top15
Ramones' songs.
Sadly Mickey wasn't in best condition and his singing was confusing. I
started to search performance they did of She Belongs To Me and you can
see it here on
YouTube.
Glen Matlock (ex-Sex Pistols, The Philistines etc.) was in really good mood
and he did pay attention to audience well. He played acoustic for example Sex
Pistols song God Save The Queen. In Joey Ramone Friends set he for
example was on stage when we fans heard What A Wonderful World.
As I wrote in first page, Glen Matlock was the original bass player of the
Sex Pistols. Matlock was replaced with Sid Vicious, and I met with him for
the first time since 2006. We chatted outside The Bowery Electric and we did
small documentary interview. In this page you can see photo I had taken of
Glen Matlock and Ramones' fan David Oliver. Oliver was wearing rare T-shirt
from Ramones' Brain Drain tour. Oliver said he had attended first show
CJ Ramone played in the Ramones. That show was in Leicester, UK, in
September 30, 1989.
This was third time Matlock performed at the Joey Ramone Birthday Bash.
His band The Philistines were at the sixth annual Joey Ramone
Birthday Bash, when Matlock and I did 1,5 pages long interview to
Ramones:
Soundtrack Of Our Lives. Now I had chance to give book to
him.
The Bullys is a band what is always really great to see. Joey Lanz has a
great voice and it is easy to see how much guys love to be on stage.
This was fourth year in a row that The Bullys were on action at the Joey
Ramone Birthday Bash. I was thinking year 2006, when Richie Ramone and
Cheetah Chrome shared the stage with The Bullys guys Joey Lanz,
Walt Stack and Todd Feyh. From those five gentlemen today four were on
stage.
You can see four The Bullys members in photos on this page.
Also When I was thinking who were today at The Bowery Electric, especially
Andy Shernoff, Mickey Leigh, The Independents' Evil Presly and Willy B and The
Bullys, I was remembering
to few fans days when Joey Ramone was still here...
The Bullys became the last band to perform at one of his events...
