LATEST BAD CHOPPER -NEWS: OCTOBER 5, 2010:
CJ Ramone started playing with Ramones' producer Daniel Rey etc. in
2008. He hadn't played Bad Chopper shows since late 2008. See
his tour dates
here.
About recordings... CJ said in December, 2010,: "Been in the studio with Daniel Rey and Michael Stamberg. We
recorded two songs for Mosrite Records and we started on my new album."
And in late August, 2011, CJ updated: "Gotta get my new CD finished up. Want it ready for the spring (2012)!
And in early October, 2011, CJ explained more how record is going to be: "The album really is a tribute to The
Ramones. I did not sit down and say, "I am going to write Ramones sounding songs." I wrote Three Angels On My
Shoulder song as a tribute to Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee and Tommy. It was my moment
of thanking them for everything they did before I came along and for all the great times I had in my life as a fan.
It is a lot like a Ramones record. It has everything from the Joey and Dee Dee type of pop love songs to more of the
hardcore style stuff. These are songs that I have written over the course of the last couple of years and I am really
excited to get it finished up and get it out. Album will be called Reconquista. That is kind of how I see this
album. It is me kind of taking back a little bit of my musical life. I have not liked any new music for a long time.
October, 2010, arrived sad news. The former singer of hardcore band Out
Cold and member of Bad Chopper, Mark Sheehan passed away on October 1,
2010, in his hometown Dracut, MA, USA. Mark Sheehan, 41, died
unexpectedly. His love of music saw him transition between numerous
roles, including guitar, bass, vocals, drums, even recording/producing.
He played for Bad Chopper drums and guitar.
The Bad Chopper finished recording their debut full length album in
January 2007. USA version of it was released in CD format in December
2007 and in vinyl version in February, 2008 by Acme Records.
Mariano Asch's record label Rockaway Records
released Argentinean pressing of the album in August, 2008.
Another Mariano, Mariano Perez filmed promotional video of Do
It To Me song in summer 2008. You can find video from their homepage's media section.
They did play first shows since 2004 in
July-August, 2008. See all
dates
here.
The show in Buenos Aires in August, 2008 was recorded for potential
release on
CD or
DVD. Bad Chopper is not sure at this time which will see the light of
day, but at least one of them surely will.
This Bad Chopper studio album has 12 songs, and only 2 of them were
officially
released before.
They recorded etc. songs together with "Ramones producer" Daniel Rey.
They were doing artwork of the album with time etc.
Album is released by Acme
Records (see order details below).
- So the vinyl version was released in February, 2008. The first 100
orders of the LP had the opportunity to have it autographed by
the band. Bad Chopper got chance to autograph LP's and I just sent
(March 10, 2008) those orders. Those who would like a copy please send
your order in. Once they're gone, they're gone.
- The price for the vinyl is 10US$ in
the USA, 12US$ in Canada and Mexico and 18US$ for the rest of the world
($10.50/$12.60/$18.90 via Paypal to account jevicci@juno.com),
explained Acme
Records owner John
Evicci.
I (Jari-Pekka) want to mention that prices are really low, and of course
you can pay few extra dollars as a thank for John Evicci that he release
this record (see also other releases Acme Records has put out).
Read also an nice interview with CJ Ramone concerning this Bad Chopper
album, CJ did it Bram
van Schaik. Click
here to read it .
John also told following: "CJ brings his signature songwriting and sense
of melody to these 12 tracks of simple yet effective rockin' punk
tunes. Not attempting to resurrect the Ramones, but rather just
channelling his innate gift for
writing great catchy, from-the-hip punk rock. One listen to this and
you'll understand how he made the cut in that most important punk rock
institution that was the Ramones."

brought in on drums when they tour so they can have two guitarists live.
I did not play on the album. John Chadwick is no longer involved at this

REVIEW OF THE CD:
This review was released on the Sun Herald newspaper in the USA on March
28, 2008 by Ricky Flake (aka Lobotommy).
"This CD/vinyl release is the long-awaited full-length album from
latter-day Ramones bassist CJ Ramone, who is fronting Bad Chopper on
bass/vocals under his real name, CJ Ward.
Immediately following the Ramones' 1996 retirement, CJ's band, The Warm
Jets (name later changed to Bad Chopper), played around NYC and did
South American touring with various line-ups. Then, he helped raise his
children, one of whom is autistic. Parenthood is ongoing, of course, but
now CJ is ready to rock again.
Daniel Rey, producer/extra guitarist on some of the Ramones' later
albums, is behind the board for this blistering slab of punk rock. There
are some similarities to the Ramones (minus most of the witty lyrics),
but the Stooges and other punk forefathers also come to mind.
Highlights include "Diabla," "Real Bad Time" and the two featuring
Heartbreakers/Ramones studio guitarist Walter Lure, especially "Sick of
It."
Rey's nifty guitar adorns my current fave, "Good Enough for Me" plus one
more. Ramones fans and devotees of churning NYC punk rock can get this
one locally or online at www.acmerecords.net."
UNCORRECT RUMOURS:
There were in 2006 some rumours that CJ has left music business behind
of him, but that is bullshit. Don't believe all rumours! I had long
meeting with CJ Ramone in May 2005 and he was then excited of
songs which comes to the CD. CJ also recorded song together
with Bien Desocupados (Argentina) to the Todos
Somos Ramones tribute album released by Rockaway Records/ Mariano
Asch. During this my trip in 2005 I was talking of Todos Somos Ramones
with CJ and Marky, both were really satisfied for it.
OLDER NEWS:
The Bowery Electric, A Tribute To Joey Ramone EP was released by label
No Tomorrow in Spain on March 25, 2004. It features main track The Bowery
Electric (Click here to read
more of the song), CJ Ramone's band Bad Chopper, Goin' Places, Mensch
and The Kowalskis. No Tomorrow has licensed this record for Spain and they
have added to it a bonus track by Suzy & Los Quattro called Not Glad To
See You Go. Track is a homage to Dee Dee Ramone. Bad Chopper's song is
titled Why Why Why Why Why Why and it's pretty rough.
Los Gusanos was great band and their split up was really bad news for me
and for many fans. But now CJ is back with his new band called Bad
Chopper. At first band was called Warm Jets, but there was other band
named that. Early this year 2001 I was first person who told to Warm Jets
of this other band. I don't know why it took so long to change the name.
They changed it September 2001. Band released with name Warm Jets their
debut single through really cool label called
Acme
Records on winter 2000.
That single contains two outstanding tracks of raw, stripped-down
punk rock & roll.
In Spring 2002
Woimasointu,
Mark Sheehan (Bad Chopper drummer) and CJ were changing ideas about
possible single release and all came
in together and on February 19, 2003 was released single by Woimasointu.
This is 7" single with songs Real Bad
Time and Diabla. 500 copies was released as a limited edition in
red/blue/white splattered vinyl and rest in black vinyl.
The 4 song promoCD was supposed to be released (Sep 2001) to the South
American -tour. But not at last because of the name change and Bad Chopper
played in South-America only 3 gigs. After they came back, they headed
into the studio to start working on the full lenght CD. Acme Records owner
John Evicci was playing drums on this gig.
The guitarist John Chadwick couldn't do it, so Mark (the drummer)
moved to guitar and John Evicci was in drums. ...and more line-up
changes, In winter 2002 Bad Chopper became a 3-piece with Brian Costanza
taking over all guitar duties.
Flavio done the artwork for Bad Chopper Hangar 100, Sao Paolo gig and
here's a a flash pop up windows to promote the shows at: http://www.ataquefrontal.com.
Bad Chopper also did an afternoon autograph-session, in London
Calling. At first CJ played their new song Real Bad Time and
single-songs. CJ doesn't wanna play anymore Ramones-songs and he told,
this was his last time. On this Bad Chopper -concert played Ramones-songs:
Strength To Endure, Main Man, I Got A Lot To Say, Listen To Your Heart and
Glad To See You Go. Check out William's
pics of the autograph session and gig.
Listen through Arturo's site Real Bad
Time -song..
Warm Jets -debut single (2000)
Side A - She Says (3.01)
Side B - Diabla (2.54)
Only 113 pressed on white vinyl...., so it's gonna be rare collector item
soon, hope you got your copy.... (the rest are pressed on clear
vinyl). You can buy single through Acme Records -homepage.
Gig
dates.
LINE-UP ON FIRST SINGLE:
CJ: Vocals, bass
John: Guitar
Mark: Drums
In summer 2001 Warm Jets got for a while another guitar player John, who
also played on Los Gusanos.
