The Song Ramones The Same album is dedicated to Joey Ramone and it was released Joey's first day-of-death.... White Jazz and it's boss Calle von Schewen worked 1,5 years with this album. White Jazz collected for The Song Ramones The Same bands with really wide range. This is best Ramones tribute compilation ever. These bands are really influenced by The Ramones. White Jazz owner Calle did also co-operation with Joey and they hang out together in New York etc.
- White Jazz Records and our roster of bands have always had a special relationship to the Ramones and the plan of doing a tribute album has been around for a long time. Some of the labels bands have had their songs recorded and ready for the event since a while. When we got the sad news that we had lost Joey, it all got definite. If we hadn't done it before, we definitely had a reason to do it now. When the word started to spread about it, other artists started to contact the White Jazz with their interest to join the project, told Calle.
I also recorded song for that tribute album, but it's not on album, I explain more of reasons in my Joey Ramone memorial book Heaven Needed A Lead Singer: Fans Remember Joey Ramone (2002).
The Song Ramones The Same came out in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark April 15 and rest countries in Europe April 20 and USA.
Release is supported by live Ramones-tribute night at Göta Källare in Stockholm, Sweden in April 15, 2002..
