Interview: July 21, 1999.
Jari-Pekka: 1) Best memories about the last
Ramones-tour and final years?
Marky Ramone:
It was alot of fun. The fans were great. The last tour was with Rancid,
Metallica and Soundgarden. Rancid was great, I became very close friends
with Lars Frederiksen. He produced my second solo Marky Ramone And The
Intruders CD The Answer To Your Problems?. Which is out the same
time the Ramones Anthology is released. Joan Jett sings and plays on one
song called Don't Blame Me. a tribute to Phil Spector. It will be put
out by Zoe, Universal. in the North America and CRS in Europe Tramaa in
Brazil and EMI in Argentina and I forget the
name of the label in Japan.
The final years with the Ramones was still alot of fun ... The Ramones are
definetly one of the 5 most influential bands of all times and there will
never be another band like it.
Jari-Pekka: 2) Best sides of the Ben
Trokan and Johnny Pisano?
Marky Ramone:
Ben Trokan is a great front man, musician, singer and writer. Also a real
ladies man, the girls love him. A real heart breaker.
Johnny pisano, between him and Matt freeman, and flea from Rancid and the
Red Hot Chili Peppers. He's the best player on the scene. He play's the
bass like no one else. A great showman. Matt and Johnny have a mutual respect
for each
other. The girls also love him the partying never stops . The Intruders have
done 300 shows since the Ramones broke up. He was great on the Warped Tour.
Jari-Pekka: 3) How about the Marky Ramone
And The Intruders-, Ramainz- or your spoken -tours in Europe/ Asian/
Australian etc. in future?
Marky Ramone:
l intend to take the Intruders all over the world. The Ramainz just a few
select shows, and my spoken word tour, all over the world. I will be
appearing (1999) in Dublin Oct 13, at The HQ Club, London Oct. 11, at
Dingwalls Glasgow, at the Garage on Oct 14 and Hague at the Border
Crossing. on Oct 9. My college tour will also start in the fall. I was
selected out of the other Ramones to do this .The booking company guy
followed my career and had seen me on the Howard Stern show and thought
I was the best speaker in the band. I talk about my times on the punk rock
scene, starting with my audition for the New York Dolls , Then joining
Wayne County's band the Back Street Boys. Then playing Richard Hell and
the Voidoids, Then being asked to join the Ramones in 1978. by Johnny and
Dee Dee Ramone.
Jari-Pekka: 4) Your favourite Ramones
songs?
Marky Ramone:
My favorite Ramones songs I play on are the Dee Dee songs. Their the real
representation of the Ramones.
Jari-Pekka: 5) Can you tell about your
time with Jayne/Wayne County, Richard Hell and Dust. How did you started
to play with Dust, you were then only 15-16 year old? Your favourites
happenings with these bands?
Marky Ramone:
My favorite time with Dust was when we toured with Alice Cooper.
The
best thing that happened playing with Wayne County, was when he kicked Dick
Manitoba.'s ass in C.B.G.B.s I was right on the stage . It happened in
1976.
Dick was Gay bashing him. So Wayne showed him who the real man was . Wayne
sent him to the hospital.
My favorite time with Richard Hell former member of Television and the
Heartbreakers was touring with the Clash in Europe in 1977. I had a great
time on that tour. The rest is history !!
(Thanks really to you Marky with 3 Cheers)
