MARKY RAMONE'S GELATO FLAVOR...
(2012)
Marky Ramone had many appearances in Italy in December 2011 - January
2012. Marky wrote in January 31, 2012 of his signature gelato
(ice-cream): "MEC3 (Italy), one of the
largest gelato companies in the world, is putting out my own flavor, in
over 100
countries called "Marky Ramone's cookies." Its a delicious chocolate
gelato with grunchy chocolate cookies. Part of the proceeds will go to
charity, Marky Ramone explained."
AND MEC3 informed me with following press release: "MEC3 is issuing a
new "challenge", combining two apparently irreconcilable distant
worlds: ice cream and punk rock music. Yes.. That's right! It's him,
Marky Ramone, former drummer of the Ramones, the legendary punk rock
band which entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and which
was defined by experts as the greatest band in music history after the
Beatles."
WTF? Does anyone of us (fans) tells opinion. It is a long way from
1974...
MARKY RAMONE'S CRUISIN' KITCHEN (2012)
Daniel Maurer had an interview with Keith Album in East Village (New
York, USA) newspaper on May 11, 2012. Subject was Marky Ramone's food
truck. Marky
Ramone's Cruisin' Kitchen hit the streets again about two weeks ago, April
2012. Keith Album, a French Culinary Institute grad who has worked in
catering, as a personal chef, and most recently at Whole Foods,
describes his concept as "worldwide balls," with Marky Ramone's
signature marinara pasta sauce slathered over the Italian variety. Marky
Ramone's name, face etc. are on truck.
Marky's marinara isn't the only topping available: "Asian balls
are topped with Napa cabbage, chorizo balls are topped with mango salsa,
and there are even chickpea-based vegan balls etc.", is explained in
article.
Keith Album wants to be around Marky's local shows, like he was at the
Bell House in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
- Marky talks about coming on the truck when he can fit it in. He
hasn't actually served customers but we do speak about him making
appearances, said Keith.
Situation in May 2012 was, that Keith hopes
to park Marky Ramone's Cruisin' Kitchen on
weekend evenings at
Trader Joe's on 14th Street in East Village in New York, USA.

MARKY RAMONE'S PASTA SAUCE
(2009-2011)
Some of you know Marky Ramone having Brooklyn's Own Pasta Sauce
available... A recipe is by Marky. Brooklyn's Own Pasta Sauce is
currently available at various House Of Blues venues and at Markyramone.com.
Marky has had some promotional events, like read here
of event at Chef Central in New Jersey where Marky was. I also added
there and here some parts of Marky's interview at NorthJersey.com.
Marky: My grandfather was a chef at the Copacabana and 21 Club in New
York City. I always used to go to his house with my father and mother
and
watch him cook. It's creative.
Kara Yorio: When did you start making sauce?
Marky: When I left my parents at the age of 18 when I had to live on my
own, the cheapest thing to make was spaghetti. I just got my can of
tomatoes, put it in the pot, mixed it up with some olive oil, threw in
some garlic, some onions, oregano, a little bit of sugar and that's what
I
did. I had a big pot of it and I'd keep it in the refrigerator. It would
always be there. It was something that, at the time, kept me
going.
Kara Yorio: How close is this to that original recipe?
Marky: It is close. There are a few little things that are different.
I'm not
going to say I'm a full-fledged chef, I'm just saying there are things
in the sauce that are kind of like a surprise. And everything is good
for you. It's gluten free and it's all natural and that's
important.
Here is review about pasta sauce. The Wall Street Journal had picked 16
brands of basic tomato sauce, from the common commercial to specialty
selections, and subjected them to the palates of red-sauce aficionados
Michael Chernow and Daniel Holzman, chefs and proprietors of New York's
casual Italian restaurant the Meatball Shop. In three rounds of blind
tastings, the duo picked five jars that even a slow-cooking Italian
mamma could love. Marky's one was one of Top-5. Here are comments of it
by those people: "Marky Ramone serves up a mean marinara with a
powerful peppery seasoning. The recipe was passed down by his
grandfather, once a chef at Manhattan's '21' Club. "There's a lot of
olive oil in this one, but that is not a bad thing," Mr. Holzman
pointed out. Mr. Chernow appreciated its "great texture thanks to plum
tomato seeds that give it
a little crunch."
MARKY RAMONE SIGNATURE DRUM
STICKS (2009)
Marky Ramone has designed a custom drumstick for Vic Firth. Vic Firth's
press release tells: "With the diameter between a 5A and 5B. It is a
medium shaft stick with a short taper and a barrel tip. The 16 3/8"
length has plenty of reach and "plays big" without being too big to
handle."
MARKY RAMONE SIGNATURE CONDOMS
(2008)
The American Social Health Association (ASHA) is reminding the public
that safer sex practices have never been more critical. Despite
hundreds of millions of tax dollars spent on abstinence-only education
programs, each year in the United States there are approximately 19
million new cases of sexually transmitted infections - about half of
which occur among youth ages 15-24. (Source: ASHA)
In honor of National Condom Week in 2008, Marky Ramone unveiled a
signature
series of safer sex kits as a means to reach sexually active youth and
adults in a cool, hip way - getting the message out about safer sex
practices through the power of music and pop culture.
Each kit contains two Lifestyles' condoms, lubricant and an STD resource
card - packaged inside a discreet metal tin with Marky Ramone emblem
printed on the front with a tagline that says "Too Tuff To Break". The
kit was produced in partnership with Minneapolis-based organization
Ready two Go.
"The world has lost too many people to STD's of all types and that is
why I joined up with Ready two Go for my signature series of safer sex
tins," says Marky Ramone.
The product was sold in 2008 at readytwogo.net (site was off-line
in 2011).
