REVIEW OF THE RAMAINZ ALBUM
BACK TO MAIN INFORMATION OF THE
RAMAINZ ALBUM
When the Ramones called it a day a few years back, alot of us were
needless to say heartbroken. I know i was at least. No more Ramones
days, no more Cretin Hoppin at shows,no more 1234's....
But at the end of every story is a new beginning............ The
Remainz!!!!!... The Remainz are two ex members of the Ramones, Dee Dee
Ramone on vocals/ guitar and Marky Ramone on drums, with a new member
Barbara Ramone on bass guitar sharing vocals with DeeDee.
On June 15 1999,they released there first album. It was recorded
in Nyc last year I believe. This album is one of the best albums of
1999!!!!!... If you were a huge Ramones fan, this album will definetely
satisfy your hunger for that intensity an passion that was The Ramones.
The CD is full of Ramone classics like "Sedated" and "Beat on the Brat" as
well as two new recorded tracks entitled "Hop Around" an "Rock N Roll
Vacation in L.A",both written with that Ramone sound down, still as fresh
as that day in 1974!. The sound an production of the album are outstanding
considering its a live recorded album with the cheers from the crowd
occasionally heard in the background. Marky Ramone produced the album an
did a terrific job!..
Hearing Dee Dee sing "Wart Hog" with a new twist is definetely a highlight
of the album, as well as Marky always powerful, intense, drumming style
that defined The Ramones powerful backbeat! Also impressive are Barbara's
vocals which on tracks like "Hop Around" are truly Ramona punk at
its best!... All in all this is a great FUN album an real blessing to us
Ramones fans.
I'd just like to take a minute to speak of the packaging which I think was
extremely creative an in true Ramones spirit.. From the liner notes lined
with shadows of Pinheads an Nyc dive bars infested with rats, it screams
Nyc garage band.....The Remainz are keep something wonderful alive an
rework it with a sweet new tatse an for that The Cretins say "Thanks
:)
(A shameless plug if I may) There is a band that Marky Ramone produced
called" The Travoltas".They mix Ramones style sounds with Beach Boys
influenced vocals. Its a great fun album with extremely catchy songs that
will leave you singing them for days.....There fun, surfy, poppy sound is a
great way to spend a summer. Definetely check em out if ya can!
(Thanks of the really enthusiactic review, Babi
Ramone)
