Live photos of Marky Ramone and Michale Graves are taken in Finland by Jari-Pekka
Laitio-Ramone.
On October 13, 2011, my brother and I went to see a Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg concert at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC. There were three
opening bands: Super Prime, Tri-State Conspiracy, and Evan Russell Saffer.
Before Marky and the band took the stage, the theme song from the TV show Perry Mason played over the speakers. Marky started playing at
10:15PM. The theatre holds about 600 people and looked just about full by the time Marky took the stage. Lead singer Michale Graves
(ex-Misfits) was great. He sang with a lot of energy and jumped around the stage a lot. I could not hear the names of the guitar or bass
player, but from pictures I have seen on the web, the guitar player was the same as when Marky toured Europe in August 2011.
(Jari-Pekka's note: I think both were same, Marcelo Expulsado from the Argentinean band Expulsados, and Crazy Joe. Can't confirm as Marky
don't want to write their names on any website...).
Dan continue: They both did a very good job playing. Marky was his usual awesome self.
The band was all business for the first 50 minutes or so. Michale did mention before singing Pet Sematary, that it was Joey Ramone that
started the rumor that here in New York City, beneath your feet, lies a pet sematary. The only other talking between songs was when the
bass player shouted, 1-2-3-4.
After the first encore, Marky came out and thanked several people for coming to the show, including Vera Ramone, Dee Dee's wife. I also
saw members of the band The Bullys in the crowd. They are a NYC punk rock band who opened for CJ Ramone when he played NYC in July 2011.
If you have not heard of The Bullys, you should check them out.
The show lasted around one 1/4 hours. The last thing that Michale said before leaving the stage was, thank you New York. I was really
impressed with the whole band. I hadn't seen a Marky show since he played with the Intruders in 1997. Hopefully it won't be another 14
years before I can see him again. I feel very lucky that in the last three months, I have had the pleasure of seeing both Marky and CJ
Ramone in concert.
They were selling Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg t-shirts, an autographed poster, autographed drum sticks, and also for sale was a Michale
Graves t-shirt and a photo from him with the Misfits that he signed. Outside of the theatre parked on the street was Marky Ramone's
Cruisin' Kitchen mobile food truck. It was a truck where you could buy Marky's pasta sauce as well as meatballs, macaroni and cheese and
other things. On the truck it said follow us on twitter and also gave a website: Cruisinkitchen.com.
