BACK
I started my journey to Whitehaven from Edinburgh at 6.05 am on Saturday
14th April. As the rail lines on the west coast were being worked on, I
had to get the bus from Waverley Station to Carlisle Railway station. I
arrived in Carlisle a little earlier than scheduled so was able to get
another train to Whitehaven and be there earlier. It took an hour and a
half to get to Whitehaven and I arrived there at 9.30 am. When I got to
Whitehaven station I got a taxi to take me to my guest house where I was
staying the Glenfield, run by a lovely couple Andrew and Margaret, who
both made me very welcome.
I got settled in to my room which was lovely and after I had a shower and
got ready, I took a walk down to the Civic Hall where the show was taking
place. I was helped by a very nice chap called Wayne on reception and I
spoke to Greg Fisher who was in charge of events at the Civic Hall. He
was very friendly and helpful.
I was fortunate enough to be present at Marky's soundcheck with
Antiproduct and
it was great. Thank you
Marky. Marky came over and waved to me and said hi to me and we chatted
for a bit before he had to leave to go and get ready for the show later
on.
There were bands playing Goldblade, UK Subs, who were good, then
Antiproduct and Marky Ramone and Antiproduct. There was some local
support bands also. After the UK Subs had finished, Antiproduct came on
and their set list was:
1. The Rules We Rock And Roll By
2. Turning Me On
3. Quietly
4. Bungee Jumping People Die (My favourite Antiproduct song)
5. Good Vibrations (This was excellently performed)
6. If I Was Orson Welles
7. Drugs, Sex, Food and Booze
8. (Be My ) Supergirl
Antiproduct put on an excellent show and so full of energy it was a
pleasure to listen to them and great they played Bungee Jumping People Die
I hoped they would. After their show they went to get ready and after a
few mins came back on and Marky came on and went to his drums.
Marky then announced the first song which was Rockaway Beach.
The full set list Marky and Antiproduct played is as follows:- Marky did
a grand job as he always does introducing each song:
1. Rockaway Beach
2. Teenage Lobotomy
3. I Don't Care
4. Sheena Is A Punk Rocker. Marky announced this song and he
dedicated it to me saying "This goes out to Lynne" I was absolutely
thrilled and very special thanks Marky for that, I will always think
Sheena a special song now. Marky dedicating this song to me means a lot
and I have been very happy all week since I got back from Cumbria.
5. Havana Affair
6. Commando
7. I Just Want To Have Something To Do
8. Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment
9. 53rd and 3rd
10. She's The One
11. Psycho Therapy
12. Judy Is A Punk
13. Pet Semetary
14. Chinese Rocks
15. The KKK Took My Baby Away
16. Cretin Hop
17. Rock And Roll High School
18. I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You
19. Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World
20. Pinhead
21. Beat On The Brat
22. I Wanna Be Sedated
23. R.A.M.O.N.E.S.
24. Blitzkrieg Bop
Everyone was enjoying themselves and singing to all the songs, I rocked my
hardest to every one but especially Sheena Is A Punk Rocker and I was
delighted with my song dedication from Marky. I think Antiproduct and
Marky playing together are fantastic and so do a lot of other people. A
fantastic atmosphere everyone going wild and great to hear the Ramones
songs again. Marky worked very very hard and as always he was
fantastic on the drums. Antiproduct backed him up superbly and Alex did a
great job of the songs. The girls Clare, Milena and Marina doing a
fantastic job also.
After I Wanna Be Sedated Marky and Antiproduct left the stage for a few
minutes and then came back on to do an encore which was R.A.M.O.N.E.S. and
Blitzkrieg Bop. The show finished after that and it was a great night.
After the show, I saw Marky again and we were chatting he was terrific, I
did try to get a pic taken of Marky and I for
the
Marky Ramone Fan Site
but unfortunately, my camera played up. After a few minutes it was
time to leave and I went back to my hotel. I had a terrific time and a
lot of lovely memories from this show.
