TOO TOUGH TO DIE: A TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY RAMONE DOCUMENT

BACK

Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone document is directed by Mandy Stein and is A Plain Jane Production in association with Cactus Three. Document debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in April/ May, 2006. This is different document than what was plan to do before Joey got a call from heaven (I prefer to this one).

DVD version of the Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone was released in November 4, 2008.

Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone documents the final two and half days before Johnny Ramone passed away, when was the Ramones 30th anniversary party at Los Angeles's historic Avalon Theatre in September, 2004. Tommy Ramone, CJ Ramone, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Eddie Vedder of the Pearl Jam, Rob Zombie etc. were raising funds for cancer research then.
See infos of the night here or you can read report of my trip to the LA here, report of the the Ramones 30th anniversary night starting from page 5 ->

Also Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone has for example heart-felt remembrances of Johnny by Johnny's wife Linda, Lisa Marie Presley, Sonic Youth, Debbie Harry, Nicolas Cage etc. Document covers as well the bittersweet ceremony unveiling the Johnny Ramone monument at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery, read of that event here.
DVD's bonus features include full-length commentary track with Director Mandy Stein and Linda Ramone sharing candid stories and insight behind the scenes of her iconic husband's legacy.

PICTURE-STORY REPORT AND SOME COMMENTS:

Here you can read picture-story report of the Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone documentary preview at the Hollywood Forever cemetery in Los Angeles, California, USA on June 29th, 2007.

My friends David Kelly and Adele were at the Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone document premier on April 26, 2006. David Kelly told that he saw Marky Ramone and his wife Marion, CJ Ramone, Bob Gruen, Monte Melnick etc. at the premier. David liked of the film.
- It was good and heart felt. Marky seemed in good spirits, CJ seemed a bit emotional. The theater was filled to capacity. People were clapping after the film. Marky went down to ask everyone to shout Hey Ho Lets Go, said David.

Adele told following after seeing document:
- When you have someone die, a documentary that involves that is going to be slightly depressing, but I think the director did a good job of limiting the amount of that within this movie. I also think that it was both tastefully done and well put together. Definately worth seeing. I really hope a distributor can be found soon to the document.
